Intensive inspections

Strict inspection standards.

Inspections have to be carried out in different production stages to see whether the parental material meets all the requirements.
Potatoes are susceptible to diseases and pests, so the inspection standards have to be very strict, especially with respect to diseases that can be transmitted via seed potatoes. The NAK's inspectors therefore pay close attention to a crop's health.

Seed potatoes may be grown only in plots that are free of the potato cyst nematode (pcn). Tests for this pest are carried out by taking soil samples of all the plots intended for the
cultivation of seed potatoes, and analysing these samples. Only seed potatoes from plots that have been found to be free of pcn are accepted for inspection.
